The beginning Prebuild Devlog 1


Hello guys,

Thomas (ThomasTheWest) and George (Yumimel) here, working together on our semester-long game project for Game Tools 2.

We first decided to brainstorm together and concluded our game would be a 2D Platformer with narrative and idle clicker elements embedded into it. 

We worked on getting our player character's grabbing arm working for the first week as part of its controls. Moving independently from the rest of the player character, the arm would follow the mouse, grabbing trash and flinging it into the pit. Composed of segments joined together by hinge joints, the arm is semi future-proofed for the addition of new segments by adding in a variable that multiplies the distance the arm can move away from the body, corresponding to the number of joints.

The question we will be testing is "How the basic movement controls and a stretchable arm mechanic will work. what keys will activate it and how it works in a prototype playtest" Plus how the character interacts with game objects etc. (pickable objects/shop)
